The kids have no idea what's going on heightening this strong sense that all this is a big misunderstanding. Meanwhile, Team Galactic is trying to kidnap Lady for a ransom to build their bomb, but are foiled by Uji and Paka behind the scenes. The kids take a trip to the Lost Tower and then the Solaceon Ruins where the D and P Unown (ha!) befriend Diamond and Pearl, and the kids save all their little Unown friends who will also become a huge help to them later.
Lady gets discouraged because she's being sabotaged, but a pick-me-up from Diamond has her back in the game and having fun which catches the eye of Fantina who will become a huge help to them. And, oh sweet baby Arceus, do her pokemon look hilarious in those costumes. So, the kids break up the work for the contest with Diamond tackling cooking the poffins (yay, the poffin case!), Pearl handled I don't know but he was furiously writing something, and Lady handled the organization of the costumes. The kids break out of the cave and end up n Hearthome City where Lady wants to compete in the contests there. Also, Diamond read the map and guidebook and was a champion guide for them (that is until the cave in) which was nice to see because he had previously taken a back seat in most of the action thus far. I loved seeing that little Luxio return all grown-up. The wild Luxray Pearl previously helped just happened to be there as well, and helped Diamond find his friends with x-ray vision. Cyrus is evolving his pokemon and causes a cave in leaving Diamond, Pearl, Lady, along with some of their pokemon separated amongst the rubble. The kids do however end up in a confrontation with Cyrus soon after on the cave route to Mt. All that leads to a just missed meeting between the kids, Cyrus, the boss of Team Galactic, and Lady's actual bodyguards, Uji and Paka, who are still looking for her. That ends in disaster with an attack from from a wild Stunky, an out of control bike, and a trip to the bathhouse.
